The art of digital recording, mixing, and engineering is widely misunderstood by musicians. Many of my fellow players, and songwriters have this mistaken idea that their understanding of music qualifies them to make their own records, and they are often disappointed in the results. A good producer/engineer knows a little about music, a lot about software, and a ton about sound reinforcement; but what makes a great engineer is an understanding of an artist's mindset that allows him or her to bring to life that artist's vision to its fullest potential. Whether it's the willingness to tell an artist hard truths, or the focus to sit at a console for hours on end to polish a few seconds of audio, Mr. Lance has demonstrated to me the drive and professionalism necessary to achieve greatness in his field. My working relationship with Mr. Lance has hopefully only just begun. There are few people that I've come across in a studio setting that can approach his level of dedication to making sure every record he produces is of impeccable quality.

I did a Demo with Steven and the process was probably the best I have had yet with recording. He was very easy to work with and patient when need be. The process for setting up for a drum set was very brief and he made it look easy! He had so many ideas for different sounds he could bring out of the kit that made it even more exciting to record. The rough mix alone sounded amazing after the track was complete and the finished product blew me away as well as everyone i have shown it to, which i was proud to show to EVERYONE. He took and made the best of his time during the recording as well as the editing and mastering, yet it didn't take him long to finish. Its easy to say he loves doing this and he is a true artist at his craft. Id recommend him for any one and everyone.

"Working with Steven is a joy. It is very satisfying working with a person that approaches his craft with as much enthusiasm as we do with spoken word and poetry. His talent in sound engineering is solid but his true aptitude is helping artists bring their best in the booth. While in the studio Steven does all he can to create a professional and creative space. I look forward to working with him in the future."

I recently recorded a 10 track cd with Steven Mercury Lance down at hi-def studios during these past 6 months. When I first went inside to meet him and check the studio out I wasnt sure what to expect! Like any other time I meet somebody new. I was a little nervous and uptight! After meeting him though. i calmed down pretty fast! He is the most laid back, easy to get along with type of person you'll ever meet! A few days later my crew the Rappaholics came down to start recording!! Once we heard what he could do and how crisp the music he records was!! We knew that Steven "Da Murc" Lance is where we had to go for our first cd and many more to come! I would highly reccomend his production to any serious artists that jus wanna do it right! he has been more then just a producer or a sound engineer... he is a badazz much thanks for all the help brotha.

I've been recording for ten years, mostly in hole in the wall basement studios through out the North West region. I have released many projects and worked with all sorts of artists. It wasn't until this last summer, when I met up with Steven Mercury Lance and Hidef Studio's, that I finally have been able to release quality music. I met many different people and performed countless shows, but never at this level. I am now able to show my friends, fans, and family a caliber of sound I am very proud of. The atmosphere at the compounds of Hidef definitely makes an artist want to step up his or her game up a extra notch. Professional equipment and engineering, on behalf of Steven, will for sure keep your music goals in sight. Whether you are a serious musician or just beginning, Hidef is the only way to go.
